According to the report, President Rodrigo Duterte government has allowed Republic Act No. 10911 also known as the “Anti-Age Discrimination Act in the Workplace” to lapse into law.

With this law, it can be expected that it will create a more diverse and non-discriminatory workplace, which is important to achieve equal rights to everyone.
If can be observed, discrimination in workplace in the past years was very obvious - whether it be against age, gender, religious or sexual preferences, or more. There are instances that health status is a requirement for employment. Through this, any requirement that has something to do with “age” is no longer a basis for the employers to look and hire an applicant, like the declaration of age on job applications, decline applicants based on age, discriminate against individuals in terms of compensation, promotion, or privileges based on age, forcibly lay off an employee because of old age, or impose early retirement on the basis of age.


 

After the implementation of The Republic Act No. 10911, people are expecting the government to implement laws to break the barriers of discrimination in workplace, like height and looks, because most progressive countries have been very careful about providing an equal opportunity workplace like In the United States.
